Edward F. Crawford papers, 1941-1975.

The papers consist of documents of Crawford's public life and political career. The majority of the collection contains general legislative and political correspondence (1956-1973), including materials pertaining to his activities on the State Constitutional Convention of 1967, his involvement with the Adirondack Park Agency, and his chairmanship of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Barge Canal. Scrapbooks, photographs, law school notebooks, news releases, and survey maps dating back to the 1830's are also included in the collection.

Edward F. Crawford was a prominent lawyer, politician, and judge from Oswego, New York. He began practicing law in Oswego in 1945 and became the County Attorney in 1951. He served as County Attorney until 1956, when he was elected to the New York State Assembly. As an Assemblyman he served on the Judiciary Committee (1956-1973), and the Banks, Ethics, and Guidance Committee. He was later elected to the New York State Supreme Court.
