Dr. George H. Young was born in 1909 in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Science in chemistry at Penn State in 1932, his Master of Science in 1934, and his Doctor of Philosophy in 1936, both in organic chemistry. As an undergraduate, Dr. Young was active in both academic and extracurricular activities.
