Sydney Chapman Papers, 1860-1972.

The Sydney Chapman Papers include correspondence; files documenting Chapman's activities as head of the special committee planning the International Geophysical Year; notes for lectures delivered by Chapman; drafts of three books co-authored by Chapman; personal photographs; biographical information; remembrances of colleagues honoring Chapman on his 80th birthday; reprints of published articles and drafts of unpublished articles by Chapman; and data on barometric pressure readings from various observatories (1889-1914). Also included are several brief motion picture films dealing with the aurora and the sun.
