Stuart Luman Seaton was born in 1906. His education included undergraduate work at the University of Maryland, George Washington University, University of Chicago and University of Alaska. Seaton did graduate work in mathmatics and physics at George Washington University. He worked for the Carnegie Institute of Washington, D.C. and came to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1943 to assist in establishing the College Observatory, which he headed from 1943 to 1946.
