The collection consists of the typescript and page proofs of The Indian Boundary in the Southern Colonies, 1763-1775 (Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 1966) as well as Dr. De Vorsey's dissertation on the same subject. These manuscripts are a careful and scholarly presentation analyzing with clarity the complex series of problems related to British colonial expansion as it confronted the opposing interests of the Indian colonial expansion as it confronted the opposing interests of the Indian tribes and the French and Spanish powers in their struggle for predominance in the southeastern area of the North American continent.

Louis De Vorsey (Emeritus) continues his research and writing in the area of historical geography. His book Keys to the Encounter: A Library of Congress Resource Guide for the Study of the Age of Discovery, appeared. It is one of the Library of Congress major contributions to the Columbus Quincentenary Year.
