Papers of Walter Frank, 1921-1960.

Frank's papers pertain to his work on behalf of the American Humanist Association's Committee on Church and State, and the Civil Service Commission. American Humanist Association material consists of correspondence, reports and minutes pertaining to issues involving the separation of church and state. Civil Service material was generated by his service on the New York City Civil Service Commission's Examining Board for Sheriff and pertains to the selection of candidates. In addition the collection contains a small group of papers concerning his financial support for a doctoral candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sebastian B. Littauer; and a pamphlet, 1944, The Police and Minority Groups by J.E. Weckler and Theo E. Hall. Correspondents represented by a few routine letters include H.N. Brailsford, Carl Carmer, Nathan Ottinger, Amos R.E. Pinchot, Moises Saenz, Norman Thomas, Robert Wiener, and Art Young.
