Letters of Matthew Arnold, 1863, 1864, 1872, 1887.

The collection includes a letter, 1864 May 9, to M. H. Feilde sending postage stamps to cover a debt and praising his libraries proposal; a letter, 1864 May 2, to Mrs. Green sending thanks and describing a move to the rectory at Woodford and his wife's ill health; a letter, 1863 February 27, to Henry Allon suggesting a candidate for a school position and commenting on his esotericism. Also included is a letter, 1872 October 6, to Mrs. Horner, sending a book and commenting on a move to a new home and past visits to old friends; and to Arthur Howard Galton, 1887 April 21, comparing contributions to Hobby Horse by himself and Ruskin, and refusing to promise a poem.
