The papers contain Community correspondence, personal correspondence of the founders, legal documents, financial records, reports, newsletters, manuscripts, labor records, minutes, articles, and bulletin board (opinion and idea) notices and responses, the chief internal form of communication. Papers document the establishment of the Community, its philosophy, member recruitment, organization, management through a structure of councils, and daily life of members. Specific topics include farming, community industries particularly hammocks, labor credit system, interpersonal relations, child raising, planning, branch development, and annual conferences on communities. There are also files on other intentional communities in the United States and Canada, photographs, and videotapes particularly of the 20th anniversary celebration. B.F. Skinner is a correspondent.
