Papers of the Henkel family, 1808-1834.

The collection contains letters to Ambrose Henkel about the printing of a hymnal, efforts to trade pastorates, invitations to preach, and the church situation in Missouri and a plea to come and ordain three ministers there. Aletter to Solomon Henkel comments on religious activity in Pennsylvania and the reception of the Henkel books there. A letter to Paul Henkel mentions family news and the visit of Henkel's brother. The collection also contains Biblical citations (for a sermon?), a death and burial notice for Paul Henkel, a marriage license for Hannah R. Henkel, and a legal notice for the trade of three slave children.
