Samuel Swasey (1804-1887) was a New Hampshire politician of the 1840's, associated with the radical or "locofoco" wing of the Democratic Party. The son of Obadiah Swasey, a prominent Haverhill, New Hampshire lumber dealer, Samuel studied law at Dartmouth College. After graduating in 1828, he moved to Illinois and worked as a teacher.
