Comprises diary kept by Thomas Sinclair on board the steamship "Princess Royal" on a voyage from Glasgow to Australia, 2 March 1858 to 4 April 1858 (which was the ship's 25th day at sea). In the diary, Sinclair details conditions on board, and describes fellow passengers and the route taken by the ship. Diary also contains poems entitled "A poor sailor boy", "Leak" and "Speak to me speak" and is 50 pages in length.
