Letter, 1779 Feb. 17, Philadelphia, Pa., to Nicholas Hyman.

Letter ordering Capt. Nicholas Hyman to sail his schooner Count D'Estaing to Charleston, S.C., to deliver a cargo to the continental agent and to receive from Cripps & May a cargo of rice, tea, and oranges and cautioning him that the city might be occupied by British by time of his arrival and to "make the necessary enquiry before you go up to the Town." Irwin includes directions for an alternate plan if a landing were not possible due to British occupation.
