Correspondence among members of the Tidd, Lord, Henchman, and Carret families which were related through marriage. Included are letters from Charles Tidd, at sea and from Boston where he worked as a distiller to Isaac W. Lord of Windsor, Vt. and Boston; and from Mary B. Henchman Lord (Mrs. Isaac) in Trinidad, Cuba to her brother Dr. Daniel Henchman of Boston. Letters from Joseph Carret and his wife Eliza Henchman (Tidd) Carret were written from Trinidad, Cuba where he owned and operated a sugar plantation, to her aunt and uncle Isaac and Mary B. Lord and to her cousin Eliza H. Fisher. The collection also includes letters to and from the Carrets and their son Jose Francisco Carret, while he was a student at Lawrence Academy (Groton, Mass.); and an unidentified narrative of a voyage by land from Jagua to Trinidad, Cuba in June 1832, probably written by Joseph Carret.
