Scattered correspondence, bills and receipts, legal and other papers of the Hall and Marmion families of Harpers Ferry, Va. (now W. Va.). Of particular interest are the letters to John H. and Statira (Preble) Hall from Joan (Preble) Hill of Brooklyn, N.Y., and of other Preble family members, discussing family and social life and describing a fire in New York City in 1835. Other items include a manuscript volume belonging to Dr. Nicholas Marmion containing lectures by Dr. Nathaniel Chapman, M.D., of the University of Pennsylvania; a brief account by William V. Marmion of a trip from St. Joseph, Mo., to Denver, Colo., ca. 1862; and several agreements for the hire of slaves.
