Anna Gillingham was a prominant Quaker educator and author. Born in Batavia, Illinois, the daughter of Theodore Tyson and Elizabeth (Heacock) Gillingham, she attended Swarthmore College, Radcliffe, and earned an MA from Teachers College, Columbia, in 1910.
