Consisting of personal papers chiefly re Eden's involvement in fostering the Republican Party's resurgence in South Carolina, 1961-1982; including correspondence, newspaper clippings, and photographs documenting his work as party chairman, 1963-1965; campaign manager for W.D. Workman, Jr., for the U.S. Senate, 1962, and Albert Watson for Congress, 1965; member of the 1968 presidential campaign for Richard Nixon; and national committeeman, 1965-1972. Photocopy of "J. Drake Eden, Jr. and the Modern Republican Party," a research paper (21 pp.) for the University of South Carolina by daughter Jenny Edens (later Jenny Edens Padgett), 1979; personal papers include small quantity of items re Edens' military service, 1943-1946, in World War II, when he enlisted in the Marine Corps and saw action in the Pacific Theater, and his business interests, which included the family business, Edens Food Stores.
