Include diaries, 1824-1851, kept while a student in Massachusetts, a teacher at "Clay Hill" and "Vaucluse" plantations in Frederick (now Clarke) County, Va., and then as an Episcopal minister in Prince George's County, Md., and Staunton and Amherst and Nelson counties, Va., concerning his daily life, his pupils, commentary on sermons, and religious views of his own and those around him. Also includes Sunday School reports for African American children, 1839-1840, from Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton, Va.
