Collection includes correspondence, 1842-1879, of Robert Lawrence Brown concerning the Horace Walker Jones School and the University of Virginia (both in Charlottesville, Va.), the Confederate States Army (in particular the Department of North Carolina and Southern Virginia), with Nelson and Albemarle County residents, and with merchants of Lynchburg, Richmond, and Alexandria, Va., about cabinet work; accounts and account books, 1820 and 1837-1876, concerning Sunny Side and Benvenue plantations in Nelson County, Va., the University of Virginia, and the Lynchburg Female Seminary, Lynchburg, Va.; bonds; slave records, 1842; inventories, 1860, of Benvenue plantation including furniture, livestock, tools, and books; and records, 1871-1878, of Norwood High School, Nelson County.
