Contains a printed booklet of the agreement between the United Steelworkers of America and the Balkan Mining Company, the Erie Mining Company, and the Mahonig Ore and Steel Company. Also includes a typewritten transcript of a speech about the organization of the steel workers union on the Iron Range, Swanson's early life, his work on farms in the Dakotas, in lumber camps in Northern Minnesota, and in ore mines near Hibbing, Minnesota. Swanson also comments on the Socialist Party and the influence of Communism on organizing efforts on the Iron Range. Also included is an undated typed transcript of a radio message likely given by Swanson discussing the history of the labor movement in Ely, Minnesota and the Iron Range.
