Blekkink graduated from Hope College in 1909 and from New Brunswick Theological Seminary in 1912. He served three pastorates: Long Branch, NJ (1912-1914), Canajoharie, NY (1914-1922), and Cohoes, NY (1922-1962). In 1920-1921 Blekkink served as president of the Particular Synod of Albany.
