The Cottle album, 1656-1828, 1795-1811 (bulk).

Album with miscellaneous poems, letters, notes, and fragments by a variety of authors bound or laid in. Included are poems by Robert Southey, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Charles Fox, William Wordsworth, and others; letters from Coleridge, William Cowper, Henry Peter Brougham, Dorothy Wordsworth, Thomas De Quincey, and John Foster, most of them written to Joseph Cottle; notes for sermons by John Ryland, Matthew Henry, and Philip Henry; and portraits of Thomas Chatterton and John Henderson. Bound in a fragile full leather binding with marbled endpapers; housed in a green half morocco case. With the album is a copy of an article by Georges Lamoine, "Notes on Bristol literary circles, 1794-1798" (Le Mirail: Institut de recherches interdisciplinaires de l'UniversiteĢ de Toulouse, 1973), which comments on some of the album's contents.
