L.F. Seymour of Farwell (Mich.) won the bid to construct a gravel road, located mostly in Ionia County and a bit of Kent County (Mich.). Seymour and Frank F. Rogers, the then State Highway Commissioner, signed the contract on Oct. 1, 1920. Seymour later sued for $10,663.21, his unpaid balance. He was eventually paid. Charles A. Blair, son of Governor Austin Blair, was born in 1854, and spent most of his life as a resident of Jackson, Mich. He was admitted to the bar in 1876, and practice law in Jackson until elected attorney general in 1903. Blair served until 1905, when he became a member of the Supreme Court, continuing in this office until his death in 1912. From the description of Charles A. Blair papers, 1896-1911.
