This collection consists of printed materials, artifacts, glass plate negatives, and lantern slides documenting Lawson's college years and college life in general during the 1890s. The printed materials include photocopies from the Iowa State Bomb yearbook and the Iowa State student directory documenting Lawson's time at Iowa State. Also included is a booklet from the Athenian Literary Society of Highland Park Normal College, formerly in Des Moines, Iowa. The glass plate negatives contain images of buildings and student life at Iowa State, including a picture of Old Main after the 1900 fire that burned down the north wing of the building and an image of the Dinkey, the campus railroad, as it crossed central campus.
