Daniel Webster (January 18, 1782 – October 24, 1852) was an American lawyer and statesman who represented New Hampshire and Massachusetts in the U.S. Congress and served as the U.S. Secretary of State under Presidents William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, and Millard Fillmore. John Forsyth (1780-1841) was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on October 22. He graduated from Princeton in 1799 and was admitted to the bar in 1802. In 1808, Forsyth became the Attorney-General of Georgia. He was elected governor of Georgia in 1828. He married Clara Meigs, daughter of Josiah Meigs, who was the first president of Franklin College (later named the University of Georgia). Forsyth died on October 21, 1841.
