Roycrofters collection, 1915-1966.

Contains correspondence relating to Lloyd Henning's collection of Roycrofters publications. In later years, the letters between Henning and Hubbard Jr., son of Roycrofter's founder, became largely personal. The collection also includes broadsides, flyers, advertisements, brochures and catalogs for Roycrofters books and gift items.

Founded by Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915) in 1895, the Roycroft Shops combined the ideals of William Morris with the techniques of capitalism. The business developed out of the growth of the craftsman's movement in America, promoted by Hubbard through his Roycroft Press. Those who worked for Hubbard were known as Roycrofters. Biographical note: Newspaper printer; Lloyd Henning worked for newspapers in Gallup, St. Johns, Flagstaff, Phoenix, Winslow and Holbrook. He married Esther Hess in 1911, organized the First National Bank of Holbrook in 1922, and was an original owner of Navajo-Apache Telephone Company.
