Seventeen signed letters and postcards from E. E. Cummings, mostly to Seymour Lawrence of the Atlantic Monthly Press. All of the letters and most of the postcards are typescript. Most were mailed from Silver Lake, NH, where Cummings maintained a home.

The Atlantic Monthly Press was founded in 1917 as the publishing division of the Atlantic Monthly Company, publishers of the Atlantic Monthly magazine. E. E. (Edward Estlin) Cummings was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1894. While at Harvard, he delivered a daring commencement address on modernist artistic innovations, thus announcing the direction his own work would take.
