John W. Harper papers, 1905-1987.

The personal papers of John W. Harper include primarily records and memorabilia from his undergraduate years (1914-1918) at Penn State and memorabilia from class reunions until his death in 1988. The collection includes programs, brochures, directories, scrapbooks, a "1918" pennant, two drawings by Milton Osborne of the Nittany Lion Shrine, Pennsylvania State College campus maps from different decades, one panoramic photograph of the Class of 1918, one panoramic photograph of the U.S. Radio School, information about the Eta Kappa Nu fraternity, of which he was a member, and information on reunions, award dinners, and donation campaigns. A scrapbook he maintained while he was a student includes general information about Penn State, such as programs from Penn State theater productions, postcards depicting Penn State student events, and information about the school's sports teams. The collection also contains a copy of Edward Uffington Valentine's Hecla Sandwith, a novel set in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.

Milton S. Osborne, born in 1897 in Zanesville, Ohio, received a bachelor's degree in architecture from Ohio State (1922) and Columbia (1925), and a master's degree from Columbia (1928).
