Journals : of Leonard S. Tawes, ca. 1922-1929.

In these eleven-volume handwritten journals, Tawes recorded his entire seagoing career for his granddaughter. He also documented the trade of the American coasting schooner, a phase of American shipping about which very little had been written. Tawes revealed the operation of the schooners from the viewpoint of economics and navigation.
