Getting to know Herakleides : exploring a Red-Shroud mummy from Roman Egypt [videorecording] / [lecture by] Marie Svoboda ; [sponsored by the J. Paul Getty Museum].

The J. Paul Getty Museum possesses one of only nine examples belonging to the Red-Shroud group of mummies from the Romano-Egyptian period (A.D. 1st-3rd century). Lecturer Marie Svoboda, associate conservator of antiquities at the J. Paul Getty Museum, shares the results of her ongoing research project on the mummy of Herakleides, providing insights into its materials and construction, the practices used in its fabrication, the possible symbolism of its red pigment, and how CAT scans and other forms of modern technology have revealed unexpected and fascinating results.
