Fragrance of rose and flavor of mint : flowers and herbs in ancient Roman gardens [videorecording] / [lecture by] Marina Heilmeyer ; [sponsored by the J. Paul Getty Museum].

Marina Heilmeyer, author and noted expert on plant and garden history and frequent collaborator with the Botanischer Garten and Botanisches Museum, Berlin-Dahlem, Germany, will address the flowers, herbs, and vegetables grown in Roman gardens. She will examine their use for nutritional, medicinal, aromatic, cosmetic, and religious purposes, and will illustrate her talk with evidence from Roman mythology, literary and medical texts, cookbooks, and actual remains recovered in excavations.
