Papers of U.W. history professor John Hicks concerning University of Wisconsin president Glenn Frank and Frank's dismissal by the Board of Regents. Included is Hicks' statement at Frank's hearing, minutes of faculty meetings, a newsletter of the faculty branch of the Communist Party, correspondence including comments on the relationship between Frank and the La Follette family, a eulogy and several biographical essays by Hicks, two letters from Mary Frank, and a reminiscence written by Hicks in 1965.

Charles D. Hicks (b. 1890) was chairman of History Department at University of California, Berkeley (1947-?). He received his Ph. D. from University of Wisconsin (1916) and was author of several works, including: "The Populist Revolt" (1931) and "The American Nation" (1941). Essay in collection is incomplete.
