Mallory family papers, 1668-1930.

The collection contains letters (1863) of Charles King Mallory, Jr., while serving on the C.S.S. Chattahoochee in Florida, to his father; correspondence (1867-1894) of Edmund Skinner Mallory with Charles King Mallory, John Skinner Mallory and other Mallory family members; correspondence (1904-1925) and speeches (ca. 1930) of John Skinner Mallory, and invitations (ca. 1912) from William Howard Taft. Also includes a scrapbook (1889-1930) kept by Sarah Reed Mallory concerning John Skinner Mallory's U.S. Army service, with likenesses of him; letters (1871-1872) of George R. Mallory; genealogical notes concerning the Mallory and Ussher families; wills (1671-1875) of Mallory family members; inventory (1788) of the estate of Francis Mallory; and land patents (1668-1706) for Charles City, King and Queen, New Kent, and Elizabeth City counties, Va. There is also a drawing book (1838 and 1863) kept at Carlisle, Pa., by J.H. Reed with drawings by S.R. Watts at Pine Grove, Tyler County, Va. (now W. Va.).
