Songs of Pittsburgh and region 1958.

Papers include lyrics, music and historical notes for thirteen songs relating primarily to western Pennsylvania that were written between 1759 and 1856. Some of these were written by local composers, including David Bruce, James McHenry, Richard Beeson, Robert M'Kisson, William Hunter, Samuel Wakefield, Matthew McIntosh, and Stephen Collins Foster.

James McHenry (November 16, 1753 – May 3, 1816) was a Scotch-Irish American military surgeon, statesman, and a Founding Father of the United States. Stephen Collins foster was born in Pittsburgh in 1826. He wasnaturally inclined to music and he wrote over one hundred and seventy songs in his short life.
