The Madison was built in 1911 by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company and was owned by the Eastern Steamship Lines at the time this logbook was kept. The Eastern Steamship Lines formed in 1912 by consolidating the companies which operated passenger and freight services from Boston easterly to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick, and to various points in Maine; southerly from Boston to New York; and included the New York to Portland Line. ...
