ArchivalResource

Record of political contributions in New Orleans, 1932-1944.

Masnuscript record, kept in a paperback index ledger, of individual contributions to several politically oriented causes: O.K. Allen Silver Service (1932), Democratic National Committee Victory Fund Drive (1932), Richard W. Leche Silver Service (1936), and Democratic National Campaign Fund (1944). Each entry records the contributor's name, check number or cash notation, and the amount given. Some entries are dated and dates on which bank deposits were made are also noted. Internal evidence appears to link the record to Robert S. Maestri (New Orleans mayor, 1936-1946) and Charles E. Frampton, who at one time served as publicity director for the state of Louisiana.
