Correspondence (letterpress book for 1890-1895), speeches, articles, biographical material, newspaper clippings, and subject files relating to Ladd's life and career. Subjects include food adulteration, pure food laws, adulteration of paint, wheat varieties especially durum wheat and velvet chaff, patent medicine and drug labeling. Also includes Ladd family history, genealogy, and letters (1890-1895) to James B. Power and James H. Bosard concerning the formation of the North Dakota Dairymen's Association, correspondence with H.L. Bolley concerning protection of certified seed. Includes photocopy of 1936 master's thesis by P. Olaf Sigerseth, University of North Dakota, entitled "Pure food legislation of 1906," and "A chemist in the Senate : Edwin Fremont Ladd, 1921-1925," 1967 master's thesis by Alfred C. Melby, University of North Dakota, a typed original copy of "Edwin Fremont Ladd and the preservation of man," (14 leaves) by D.M. Rogness, North Dakota State University, a typed copy of "Abstracts of bulletins prepared by members of the staff of the Department of Agricultural Chemistry from 1892-date" (1936).
