The Subject Specialist Program at Gelman Library was instituted by University Librarian Sharon Rogers, and ran from summer 1985 until summer 1999. All librarians had to do collection development, faculty liaison, and research consultations, and many taught classes. In 1991 the then-acting University Librarian Debbie Masters instituted the coordinator/team leader format.
