This group includes a handwritten copy of Samuel Woodworth's poem or song, THE HUNTERS OF KENTUCKY, probably copied by Payne Pettebone, June 30, 1829. Pettebone's name is written on the handwritten copy several times, once identifying the document as his property. An undated typescript of the verse is also present. The verse refers to the "hunters" rallying to General Andrew Jackson's banner in the War of 1812.
