Ackley, Gardner

Hugh Gardner Ackley (1915-1998) worked for the Office of Price Administration in Washington, D.C. from 1941 to 1943 and 1944 to 1946, and he worked for the Office of Strategic Services from 1943 to 1944. He was a member of the Presidents' Council of Economic Advisers from 1962 to 1968, and chairman from 1964 to 1968. Ackley also served as the U.S. Ambassador to Italy from 1968 to 1969.
