South Bend, Ind. resident, musician, and politician Jesse Dickinson grew up in Newton, Kansas. He studied music in college and worked as a musician and choral conductor. Dickinson moved to South Bend in 1928 and became active in politics in 1943, serving in the Indiana House and Senate for 20 years.
