Correspondence, land papers, bills of sale for African American slaves, stock certificates, legal documents, drafts of wills, and other papers, including correspondence, bills, receipts, and reports, re Mrs. Campbell R. Bryce's charitable work in Columbia, S.C., during the Civil War, particularly with the Soldiers Relief Association and Ladies Hospital Association; and correspondence and legal papers re the estate of Campbell R. Bryce (1817-1867). Civil War correspondence also constains 12 letters, 1863-1865, to Alfred G[lover] Trenholm (1844-1877), then working in the Liverpool offices of his father's shipping business, including letter, 28 July 1865, from brother W[illiam] L[ee] Trenhom's, re the evacuation of Richmond, and George Alfred Trenholm's resignation as Secretary of the Treasury in the Confederate Cabinet. Contains correspondence, 1889-1890, between F.W. Royster of Mississippi Valley Land Agency and Frederick Turnbull, Mrs. Bryce's son-in-law, re her claim to lands in Tunica County, Miss., inherited through her brother's estate; Correspondence and land papers re Alfred G. Trenholm's agricultural and sawmill operations in Richland County, S.C.; letters from Europe, written by Henrietta von Below, wife of a German Army General, defending the German cause in World War I and discussing social life in Germany; other correspondents include George Alfred Trenholm and Campbell R. Bryce
