Chiefly manuscripts of Moore's historical and fiction writings, including drafts of his masters thesis, The Constitutional Rights Idea in South Carolina from the Founding of the Colony to the Secession of the State. Short story, "The Dilemma of Doctor Roberts," set in South Carolina during Reconstruction; and speeches on various topics, including education, government, human relations, and freemasonry, including "The Growth of the Constitution" [1910], "The Undemocratic Character of Our Government" [1910], and "Our government and the Responsibilities of citizenship" [1932]. Also includes tear sheets with annotations of his article in the 1957 publication, South Carolinians Speak relating to race relations, and letters from John P. Burgess, A.J. Clement, Jr., John F. Potts, Alice Norwood Spearman Wright, and African-American teachers and principals responding to the essay and commending Moore as an educator; and printed materials re celebration of the two hundredth anniversary of George Washington's birth in 1932.

John Foster Potts, Sr., African American educator and author, was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on April 18, 1908 to Leila Snead and John Moultrie Potts. In 1916, the family relocated to their ancestral home in East Flat Rock, North Carolina.
