Chiefly research notes, departmental reports, and publicity releases kept by Owens as an employee of the South Carolina Tricentennial Commission; newspaper clippings and tearsheets of articles re the South Carolina Tricentennial celebration; floor plans for the Midlands Exposition Park, Columbia; printed brochures and pamphlets produced by the South Carolina Tricentennial Commission; and correspondence of Owens, W. Harrison Trammell, Jr., Wayne Freeman, and Nancy Vance Ashmore. Also includes program, 6 June 1972, "Philadelphia Heritage," pageant presented in Convention Hall, Philadelphia, Pa.; typescript, undated synopses of four historical pageants, including Furman's Fairfield Days, 1837-1851, and The Mantle, presented 1947, re work of S.C. Baptists in Foreign Missions; and design contract, 5 Feb. 1970, John William Brown & Associates, Wash., D.C., for the Midlands Exposition Park. Bound volumes include three historical pageants, 1938, 1945, and 1947, re work of the Baptist Church in South Carolina; "The Family of Richard Furman," c. 1962; "South Carolina's Cradle of Eminence: The Willington Academy," 1969; research notes and outlines for the South Carolina Tricentennial exhibits in the East Dome and West Dome of the Midlands Exposition Park, Columbia," 1970; "The Back-Country Commission of Drayton, Tennent, and Hart," 1974 with maps tracing their journeys; and "The Liberty Plea," 1975, script with marginal notations of a bicentennial play.
