Contains miscellaneous items re Robinson's education and medical practice, including school papers, 1858-1868, at Williamston Male Academy, Union Academy, the Medical College of the State of South Carolina and Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia; and medical correspondence, chiefly with Dr. S. Moffatt Wylie, Chester, particularly re establishing uniform fees and collecting from patients refusing to pay their medical bills; together with bills and receipts for medical supplies purchased by Robinson. Also contains secession and Civil War letters of Robinson's uncles, John Franklin Clinkscales (1817-1895), and Charles Addison Clinkscales (1829-1870); and letters from Robinson's father, H[ugh] Robinson (1818-1896), Level Land, providing news of family and friends, particularly enlistments in the Confederate army, the fate of various Confederate soldiers from the area, the first battle of Manassas, the death Gen. Barnard E. Bee, and the formation of a ladies' aid society. Also includes manuscript May 1872 - Jan. 1873, "Roll of Members of the Due West Grange Patrons of Husbandry," J.A. W. Smith and promotional literature for books, shoes, farm implements and agricultural supplies, and household appliances apparently sold by John Robinson or his father's mercantile establishment. Bound volumes include diary, 1861-1865, of John Andrew Robinson's Civil War service; and scrapbook, 1864, chiefly of poems clipped from newspapers and pasted over the pages of a school copybook.
