Autograph letter signed from William Smith, Luston, to G. Colman, Esqr., Great Queen Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London [manuscript], [1775?] August 8.

Smith would have no objection to the part of Mosca if he had not been in possession of the part of Volpone for these 5 years and had rehearsed it 20 times while Woodward was in the company. Since Colman sent the part of Volpone to Mr. Boss, he'd prefer to be considered for a longer part in the Epicoene which he has heard is much improved under his hands.
