Military papers 1863-1869 1863-1865.

This collection contains a military commission and discharge issued to William Milbourn during his Civil War service. Included is Milbourn's 1863 commission as hospital steward with the 19th Regiment of the Kentucky Infantry Volunteers, U.S. Army. Also present is Milbourn's discharge, dated January 26, 1865. The discharge's reverse side bears a seemingly unrelated pencilled note by U.S. Marshal James P. Roberts.

The discharge document described Milbourn as a native of Mercer County, Kentucky, aged eighteen at the time of his separation from service.
