Papers of Edward Abbey, 1947-1990 (bulk 1969-1989).

Various types of materials documenting his life and career, with the bulk concerned with the period from 1969-1989. Over half of the collection consists of drafts of his novels, essays, and articles. Also included are personal notebooks, articles about him, and videotapes and audiotapes of interviews, readings, and speeches. Correspondence contains letters to and from family members, his agent and publishers, colleagues, and fans. Selected correspondents are Annie Dillard, William Eastlake, Alan Harrington, Ted Hoagland, Barry Lopez, and John Nichols.
