Georgia Coastal History Project, 1932.

The collection consists of correspondence of Regent Hughes Spalding with Dr. E. M. Coulter, Mr. Herbert Bolton, and Mr. John Tate Lanning concerning a possible series of books on the history of coastal Georgia. John Tate Lanning's book, The Spanish missions of Georgia, University of North Carolina Press, 1935, grew out of this correspondence.

Herbert Eugene Bolton was born on July 20, 1870 in Wilton, Wisconsin. He became Director of the Bancroft Library in 1916, and head of the History Department at Berkeley in 1919.
