Chauncy P. and Cora G. Munsell papers, 1900-1965.

The collection consists of diaries, notebooks, school and University of Vermont memorabilia, postcards and photographs. Chauncy and Cora Munsell lived in South Royalton, Vermont, where he practiced medicine from 1915 until his retirement. The collection is divided between Dr. Munsell's papers that consist largely of University of Vermont memorabilia (both from his fraternity as well as his class of 1912 in the College of Medicine) and Cora Munsell's diaries for the years 1917 to 1965. Many years of her diaries are lacking and most of the entries in those extant are very brief. In her diaries for 1920 and 1926, however, Cora Munsell not only describes her life married to a rural physician but she also expresses her feelings of fatigue and depression. When her niece, Hazel Phipard, died in 1926, Cora writes of attending her during her final illness. The photographs and postcards of West Hartford probably came from Dr. Munsell's family and date from his childhood.
