The clippings reflect the activities of the State Energy Coordinator, 1973-1975; Kansas Energy Office, 1975-1983; and the Kansas Energy Advisory Council. The State Energy Coordinator was appointed by the governor to meet federal requirements while the legislative groundwork was laid for the establishment of the Kansas Energy Office and the Kansas Energy Advisory Council. The Office and Council were created as part of the federal response to develop conservation plans which were reviewed by the Federal Energy Administration. The Office looked at the use of gas, oil, heating oil, and by 1978 was looking at the role of solar energy in Kansas. The Kansas Energy Office was abolished July 1, 1983 and the duties and responsibilities were transferred to the Kansas Corporation Commission.
